How to Set Up Your First Giveaway: a Step-by-Step Guide
Running a Twitch giveaway is one of the best ways to boost engagement, keep your viewers active, and grow your following. But anyone who has tried doing giveaways on Twitch knows how messy it gets. Tracking watch time, managing winners, and manually sending rewards can eat up your entire stream.
That’s why Catch-A-Loot exists. It’s a giveaway tool built specifically for streamers and their viewers. It automatically tracks engagement during your Twitch stream and sends Steam items to eligible viewers. No manual checks, no complicated setup, just smooth, automated streamer promotion.
This guide will walk you through setting up your first Twitch giveaway using Catch-A-Loot.
-
Connect your Twitch and Steam accounts
Before you start your giveaway, you need to integrate both accounts inside Catch-A-Loot.
Open Profile → Settings and connect:
- Your Twitch account - Catch-A-Loot uses this to track followers, watch time, subscriptions, and all engagement the viewer has with your channel.
- Your Steam account - needed so you can offer Steam items as rewards.
Twitch integration allows accurate rewards management while Steam integration enables viewers to claim rewards smoothly through automated trading.
-
Add your Steam trading link
Once Steam is connected, Catch-A-Loot needs your Steam trading link to send rewards.
Find it by opening Steam app → Inventory → Trade Offers → Who can send me Trade Offers?
Or visit: https://steamcommunity.com/my/tradeoffers/privacy
Paste the trading link into the Steam integration block in Profile → Settings.
This step ensures that viewers can claim drops and receive their Steam items without delays.
-
Add the items you want to use as rewards
Now, you’re ready to choose which Steam items you want to offer in your giveaway.
- Go to the Items section (left menu).
- Click +Add items.
- Select the items you want to offer.
- Press Confirm.
If you change your mind later, you can withdraw items in the same section.
Note: Steam limits how often items can be traded again, so returns are possible only after about a week.
Once items are added, your reward pool for your upcoming Twitch giveaway is ready.
-
Create a rule for your giveaway
Next, you’ll define what a Steam viewer must do to earn a reward. This is where Catch-A-Loot becomes the best way to do a giveaway on Twitch, because everything is automated.
Go to Rules → +Create rule.
Here’s what you configure:
- Rule name - label it so you recognize it later.
- Twitch channel - choose where the stream giveaway will run.
- Rule type - the action required (e.g. follow, subscribe, minimum watch time).
- Claim timeout - time a viewer has to accept the reward.
- Reward type - select the type of Steam reward they’ll receive.
Depending on the rule type, you may need to set additional parameters, like minimal watch time or specific subscription tier.
This flexibility makes Catch-A-Loot one of the best ways to get more viewers and followers on Twitch, because it rewards real engagement.
When you’re done, click Confirm in the top right corner.
-
Add rewards to your giveaway rule
After creating the rule, attach the items you’ve already added:
-
Click +Add Rewards next to your rule.
-
Enter how many Steam items you want to assign to it.
And that’s it, your Twitch live viewers can now start earning rewards automatically.
-
Monitor your giveaway during the stream
Catch-A-Loot handles everything automatically:
- Tracking Twitch viewers and followers
- Managing stream viewer engagement
- Sending rewards to eligible viewers
- Returning unclaimed items to the reward pool
Your only job is to keep an eye on item availability and add more if necessary.
Catch-A-Loot turns regular streaming into a gamified experience that keeps viewers active, making them actually stay and participate.
